It's Monday! What are you reading?

**** (4 stars)

I really enjoyed this book. It is like nothing I've read before, it's practically plot-less (*), and we never know the identity of the narrator, or really of any of the characters. Yet, despite is unusual concepts somehow it defies criticism and is an incredilbly interesting and unusual read. Set at the beginning of human 'creation' it tells a tale of how formless femals naturally concieve (in rhythmn with the moon) and the devastation that is caused when they begin to give birth to male babies.
Anyone looking for an interpretation into the way men and women live alongside one another will not be disappointed.

?

can undying love and an unswerving commitment to someone just be downright damaging sometimes? shouldn't relationships be more about reciprocation (responding to a positive action with another positive action) rather than giving off a constant sense of one sided desperation?

can we ever truly get an accurate picture of someone else's situation?

other people's expectations

Well, another week nearly over. My second week of supply teaching has flown by. So far it's gone well, although it is hard to rouse myself out of bed in the mornings.
I've enjoyed not having a full week and being able to leave school before 5, not having planning or class assessment to do. But there is a small sadness at not being established somewhere of my own and always being just a little bit uncertain of what is expected of me. I have to remind myself that all I need to do is meet my own expectations rather than worrying all the time what other people are thinking. But it's not always that easy!
